Key Dates for WPF in 2023

It’s official: this summer will be HOT! The 2023 WPF Regular Season schedule has been released and is sure to be an exciting one. Here are three key in-season and off-season dates to keep in mind as the summer approaches:

1. February 15: Free agency begins. WPF players with expired contracts that have not been resigned to their current teams (SIS Vipers or USSSA Pride) become free agents and are able to shop team and contract options. Official team rosters from all four teams are required to be locked in and finalized before opening day of the playing season in June. With two brand new franchises, we expect a lot of movement in this year’s free agency period.

2. April 17: Draft Day. All four teams will participate in the 2023 WPF Draft, looking to stack their rosters with the latest college superstars. Details to come.

3. June 15: Opening Day! The regular season for all four teams  begins on the same day. The league’s newest teams look to build strong and loyal local fan bases, and obviously, there’s no better way for a fan to be a part of history than by attending a home-opener.

Playoff and Championship Series details will be announced at a later date. Here’s enough information to get you going as you make your summer plans. Remember, the best softball doesn’t end after the Women’s College World Series. It’s just beginning!
